SANAA, March 7 (YPA) – The Swedish police on Saturday dispersed hundreds of opponents of the restrictions imposed due to the Corona virus and who organized a protest in the capital, Stockholm, in violation of a ban on large gatherings.
Police closed a bridge in the city center and said on its website that it was in dialogue with the organizers to persuade the protesters to disperse, according to Reuters.
Television footage showed the police pushing some of the protesters, and the police said six of them were injured and one of them was taken to hospital.
Sweden, with a population of ten million, recorded 4,831 new cases of coronavirus on Friday and 26 new deaths, bringing the number of deaths to 13,003.
Last month, the government said it would reduce the working hours of restaurants, bars and cafes and tighten restrictions on the number of people allowed in stores in an attempt to avoid exposure to a third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
