STC militias launch operation in Lahj

LAHJ, Jan. 5 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Transitional Council (STC) on Tuesday that said its militias carried out a military operation deep inside al-Islah strongholds in the southern province of Lahj, southern Yemen, Yemen News Portal reported.

The 9th Brigade, the most prominent of the STC factions, said in a statement that it forces were able to free a group of trucks that were tribal groups in the al-Sameta area of The Tor al-Bahah district.

The trucks were belonging to citizens of Taiz province.

Although the directorate is under the control of the al-Islah factions, but the announcement made by the STC indicates that it comes in response to the deployment of Islah militants on the heights of Tor al-Bahah, al Maqatirah and al-Madaribah areas under the pretext of freeing hostages.

The new moves point to a steady escalation of tension between the two rivals, who have fought in recent time to take control of the strategic area overlooking Aden and the strategic base of Al-Anad which constitute a strategic difference in the battle to secure or bring down Aden.
