14 soldiers, 5 militants killed in clashes in northern Afghanistan

SANAA, Oct. 14 (YPA) – 14 soldiers and five militants were killed in clashes that took place on Tuesday night, northern Afghanistan.

Reuters quoted local sources on Wednesday, as saying that “14 soldiers and five armed men were killed and five others were wounded in armed clashes that took place in Baghlan province in northern Afghanistan and the neighboring province of Badakhshan on Tuesday evening.”
Officials in Afghanistan said on Tuesday that the security forces launched a counter-attack in the south against “Taliban” fighters, as fighting raged for the third consecutive day in a militant attack that cast a shadow over the peace talks between the two parties.
