Sudan declares 3-month emergency to cope with floods, torrents

SANAA, Sept. 5 (YPA) –  Security and Defense Council in Sudan declared on Saturday a state of emergency in all parts of the country for a period of three months to prevent the effects of floods and floods.
The Council decided to consider Sudan a natural disaster area and to form a supreme committee to prevent and address the effects of the torrents and floods for the autumn of 2020, according to the Sudanese News Agency (SUNA).
Lina Al-Sheikh, Minister of Labor and Social Development, said in a press statement after the council’s meeting on Friday evening in the palace, the public that the council had declared a state of emergency for three months and that the country was considered a natural disaster zone.
She drew attention to the floods and floods, which affected 16 states of Sudan, killing 99 citizens, injuring 46 others, affecting more than half a million people, and the total and partial collapse of more than 100 thousand homes.
Al-Sheikh indicated that the rates of floods and rains for this year exceeded the records set during the two years (1988-1946), with expectations of continuing rise indicators.
