Marib city witnesses violent clashes between al-Qaeda, Islah militias

MARIB, Aug. 19 (YPA) – Violent clashes erupted on Wednesday between Islah Party’s militias and al-Qaeda militants in center of Marib city, north-east the capital Sanaa.

Local sources in Marib said that al-Qaeda militants launched a military attack on a security checkpoint belonging to the so-called “Special Forces” of the Islah militias.

The attack comes as retaliation for killing two members of Al-Qaeda organization while fleeing from Qayfa front in Rada’a district of Bayda province by the special forces led by Mohammed Abu Shaalan, the sources explained.

The sources added that the clashes left dozens of dead and wounded from in the Islah militias.

On Tuesday evening, the Islah militia killed two al-Qaeda members while intercepting the convoy of Sheikh Mohammed al-Mansouri and Sheikh Arif al-Taysi, who supported terrorist elements and the coalition forces in Qayfa front, and prevented them from entering the city of Marib.
