SANAA, Aug. 19 (YPA) -Mali’s state television announced in the early hours of Wednesday the resignation of Mali President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita .
Mali’s President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita said in a brief speech broadcast on state television that he resigned from the presidency and dissolving parliament.”
“For seven years, I have been trying to straighten the country and restore its security, he said adding “I worked hard to achieve this, and I decided to leave my duties and resign at the moment.”
This comes after Mali’s state television announced that it would broadcast the first statement by the military rebels.
This morning, the Malian Parliament confirmed that it strongly condemned all acts that had led to the violation of the country’s constitutional order.
The Malian parliament called on rebel soldiers to return to their barracks as soon as possible and to release the President and all those arrested.
ECOWAS also condemned Tuesday’s military coup in Mali and decided to close its air and land border with Mali and suspend its membership in the group.
