ABYAN, July 23 (YPA) – A commander in the so-called “security belt forces” of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Abyan province, southern Yemen, was assassinated Thursday by armed elements believed to affiliate with Al-Qaeda organization.
“Staff chief of the security belt operations in al-Wadea district in Abyan province, Mohammed Fadl al-Hashni, was shot dead by Al-Qaeda militants,” informed sources said.
The sources explained that gunmen on board a pick-up care opened fire on al-Hashni, which led to his death on the spot near Habil Amarim area in al-Wadea district.
