Southern leader survives assassination attempt in Aden

ADEN, July 12 (YPA) – The so-called southern resistance commander, Abdul Nasser al-Bawa, named “Abu Hammam” al-Yafei survived an assassination attempt in the southern port city of Aden on Sunday, local sources said.

According to local sources, “unknown” detonated an improvised explosive device when his convoy was passing in the city .

The blast damaged al-Yabei’s car and injured several of his companions, one of the sources said.

The identity of the gunmen is not yet known, and whether the incident was of a nature of conflicts within the council factions or  with Hadi’s forces.

This comes amid growing differences between Saudi-led coalition factions as the formation of the new government approaches.

In recent days, several provinces in southern Yemen have witnessed escalating tensions between more than one faction as the STC approaches a political agreement with Hadi while the Islah guarantees  the sharing of positions in the government, the administrative, judicial and diplomatic body.
