Egypt continues its talks on Renaissance Dam with Ethiopia, Sudan

SANAA, July 12 (YPA) – Egypt continues its talks on the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which aims to find a solution to the crisis between Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan over the filling of the dam.
The Egyptian Ministry of Irrigation, on its official Facebook page, said on Saturday: “The ninth consecutive day of talks continued for the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam under the auspices of the African Union and representatives of countries and observers, which aims to discuss an agreement to fill and operate the Renaissance Dam.”
The Ministry continued: “Today, bilateral meetings were held between each country with monitors and experts individually.” During which the Egyptian delegation explained the alternative formulations presented by Egypt during the technical committee meeting held on Friday. ”
The Ministry added, “The observers made some observations and inquiries, and the technical and legal committees responded to and clarified them.”
Egypt rejected Ethiopia’s proposal to postpone the settlement of the contentious points in the current negotiation process, to be referred to the technical committee that will be formed under the agreement in order to follow up the implementation of the terms of the agreement.
The Egyptian Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources revealed, earlier, that two technical and legal teams from Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia were held to try to bridge the points of view on the controversial points regarding the Renaissance Dam.
