Atlanta protests erupted over killing of black man

SANAA, June 14 (YPA) – Protesters closed a major highway in Atlanta on Saturday and set fire to a restaurant where police shot dead a black young man as he tried to escape.
This incident, documented by camera lenses, may add to the escalation of the wave of protests taking place in the United States against the background of the killing weeks ago of American citizen George Floyd at the hands of the police.
Unrest erupted after dark in Atlanta, the capital of Georgia, where the city’s mayor, Keisha Lance Bottoms, announced earlier that she had accepted the immediate resignation of the city police chief, Erika Shields, after the death of Richard Brooks, 27, on Friday evening, in one of the Wendy’s fast-food chain restaurants.
