Army forces advance towards entrances of Marib city

SANAA, June 4 (YPA) – The Yemeni army forces backed by the popular committees on Thursday managed to make military advance towards the southwestern entrance and the northeastern entrance of Marib city.

Local sources in Marib told Yemen Press Agency that the Yemeni army forces and the popular committees have been fighting fierce battles since this morning, during which they were able to control  al-Somirat sites southwest of Madghal district in Marib province.

The sources pointed out that the army and committees imposed full fire control over the center of the district, one of the most important main entrances to the city of Marib.

The army and the popular committees advanced towards “al-Royk camp in al-Alam area, far north-east of Marib, according to the sources.

The sources revealed that the hospitals of Marib city were filled with the bodies of Saudi-led coalition militants, including commanders, most notably Ali Mubarak Hadyan al-Harqan al-Obaidi and his son Omir, who were killed this afternoon during the battles on al-Alam front in Marib city.
