Deputy FM meets head of ICRC delegation

SANAA, April 6 (YPA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein Al-Ezi met on Monday with with in Yemen the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation, Franz Rauchenstein.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of the areas of cooperation between Yemen and the ICRC, and means to enhance and developing them.

Al-Ezi touched upon the developments of the humanitarian situation in Yemen, especially the National Salvation Government’s efforts to confront the Corona virus, and aspects of support by the UN organizations to back the health sector, which was greatly affected due to the Saudi-led aggression and its blockade imposed on Yemen for five years.

Deputy Minister praised the efforts made by the ICRC in the humanitarian field, as well as its role in the exchange of prisoners, reiterating the relevant authorities’ readiness to provide all the facilities necessary for the ICRC and its staff in Yemen.

Al-Ezi called the ICRC to play a role to release the Yemeni fishermen detained by the countries of the aggression coalition and its mercenaries, especially in light of the spread of the Corona virus.

Meawhile, Rauchenstein affirmed the ICRC’s keenness to provide all possible support to Yemen and contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.
