Protest calls for “armed struggle” against Islah militias in Abyan

ABYAN, Feb. 19 (YPA) – The UAE-backed southern transitional council (STC) militias held mass rally  on Wednesday calling to declare an “armed struggle” against the Islah Party in the southern provinces.

The demonstrators, who roamed the streets of Al Mahfad District, denounced the continued abduction of three Members of the Bakasm tribe in the secret detention camps of al-Islah militants in Shabwah since January.

In a statement issued by the demonstration, Al Mahfad’s sons vowed to escalate the armed situation if the prisoners are not released, considering their stay in Al-Islah prisons to be a provocation to all the members of the directorate.

The sons of Abyan expressed solidarity with the people of Shabwah province against attacks and incursions carried out by al-Islah militants in various districts

Al-Islah militants kidnapped three Members of the Bakaszam tribe on charges of carrying out armed ambushes against al-Islah military reinforcements in Al Mahfad District in January.

This comes as 120 members of “Shabwah Elite” militias continued to be kidnapped in various parts of Shabwah in January.
