TEHRAN, Jan. 7 (YPA) – Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi announced Tuesday from Iran’s capital, Tehran, that the United States of America wants to calm tensions in the region.
Iranian Foreign Ministry wrote, in a tweet on Twitter, that bin Alawi, who is currently in Tehran to participate in a conference, offered his condolences over the killing of Qassem Soleimani, commander of Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps, who was assassinated by the American army in Baghdad at dawn Friday.
Oman has friendly relations with both the United States and Iran, and it has previously mediated between the two countries, which cut diplomatic ties between them after the Iranian Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979.
