Deputy PM discusses UNDP support for re-operating power plants

SANAA, Dec. 31 (YPA) – Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Dr. Hussein Maqboli on Monday met with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative in Yemen Auke Lootsma.

The meeting discussed the possibility of UNDP support for re-operating Ras Kathib power station in Hodeidah province and Hizyaz power station in the capital Sanaa.

In the meeting, Dr. Maqboli affirmed that Saudi-led coalition seeks by all means to deprived Yemeni citizens from all services, including electricity.

He indicated that the coalition continues to prevent the entry of the ship carrying fuel of power plants to the port of Hodeidah, calling on the United Nations to take its responsibility to stop the coalition practices.

In turn, Lootsma promised that he would discuss with donors the support of the two power plants re-operation. He confirmed the program’s keenness to support the electricity sector in order to alleviate the suffering of Yemeni people.
