3 prisoners died in Saudi prison fire 

RIYADH, Dec. 12 (YPA) – The General Directorate of Prisons in Saudi Arabia on Thursday announced the death of 3 prisoners and the injury of 21 others as a result of a fire in Al-Malaz Municipality prison in Riyadh.

“At five o’clock in the morning, Thursday, Ward No. 7 of the General Administration of Al-Malaz Prison was subjected to a fire,” said Ayoub Bin Hejab Bin Nahit, spokesperson for the general directorate of prisons.

Spokesperson added that the accident resulted in the death of 3 and the injury of 21 others in the ward, before the specialists, with the support of the civil defense, could control the fire and prevent it from spreading to the wings and neighboring buildings.

He indicated that an investigation is underway into the accident to determine its causes.
