Outgoing Bank of England governor appointed UN’s special envoy for climate
SANAA, Dec. 2 (YPA) – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed the outgoing Bank of England Governor Mark Carney as special envoy for for climate action and finance.
Guterres said in a statement in the Spanish capital of Madrid, which is hosting the international climate summit on Monday, that his choice of Mark Carney for this position came to his role and prominent effort in pushing the issue of climate in the financial field.
Carney is scheduled to take office from January 1.
