Human Rights Minister calls int’l orgs to work to curb epidemics spread

SANAA, Nov. 14 (YPA) – Minster of Human Rights Aliaa Abdullatif called on international organizations to carry out their humanitarian duty to curb the spread of dengue epidemic in Hodeidah and Taiz provinces in order to avoid a health catastrophe.

The Minister said in a statement that the arrival of dengue fever in areas of Taiz, after it has intensified in al-Jarrahi district and some areas of Hodeidah is “dangerous.”

In this regard, she noted to the directives of President of the Supreme Political Council, and the treatments that are currently being taken in al-Jarrahi district under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Health and Population.

The Minister wondered about the role of and duties of the organizations working in Yemen within the field of health relief in light of the epidemic outbreak.

“The deterioration in health conditions puts us all in front of a huge responsibility for the lives of innocent people who, if they had the necessary health protection, would not die,” she added.
