Al-Mortada reveals new prisoner swap in west coast front

SANAA, Nov. 13 (YPA) – Head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs Abdulqader al-Mortada on Wednesday revealed the release of a new batch of prisoners of the army and popular committees in an exchange operation in the west coast front.

“The Committee succeeded today in freeing five prisoners of the army and the popular committees in an exchange operation in the west coast front through local mediation,” said al-Mortada in a statement.

On Monday, the Committee announced the liberation of 10 prisoners of the army and popular committees in an exchange deal through a local mediation in Jawf front.

This came three weeks after the liberation of 12 prisoners of the army and popular committees in exchange deals through local mediation in fronts of Lahj and Marib.

In last October, the committee announced the liberation of 28 prisoners in exchange operations through local mediation in fronts of Jawf, Lahj and Marib.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee has been able to free 7,000 prisoners from both sides in exchanges through local mediations, including more than 600 prisoners from both sides since the end of Sweden consultations.
