US House of Representatives: We will not fight a war on behalf of Saudi Arabia

SANAA, Sept. 23 (YPA) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday attacked President Donald Trump’s decision to accelerate the delivery of military equipment and to send additional troops to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives rejected America’s fight “on behalf of Saudi Arabia,” saying Trump’s attempt ” to circumvent the bipartisan, bicameral will of Congress, stressing that these unacceptable actions are cause for alarm.

Pelosi highlighted Congress’ adopted resolutions to block arms sales to Saudi Arabia and U.A.E.

She also emphasized Saudi Arabia’s “continued assault on countless men, women and children,’ as well as criticizing the president for “turning a blind eye” to the “continued violence against innocent Yemenis, as well as its horrific murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and its gross abuses of human rights, which represent a moral and humanitarian crisis.

The US Secretary of defense Mark Esper announced on Friday that U.S. military reinforcements had been sent to the Gulf after attacks on two Saudi Aramco oil facilities.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE have requested international assistance to protect vital infrastructure after the attacks, he said.
He noted that President Trump has agreed to deploy U.S. defense forces, focusing primarily on-air force and missile defense.
