Satellite image showing traces of Yemen air force attack on Saudi oil pipelines

SANAA, May 16 (YPA) – A satellite image showed the impact of an attack by the Yemeni air force on one of Aramco’s two oil pumping stations near the Saudi capital of Riyadh, using drones on Tuesday.

The Associated Press news agency reported on Wednesday that it had obtained a photograph from San Francisco-based Planet Labs, which showed two black markers near the East-West pipeline in Saudi Arabia at one of the pumping stations that indicates the point at which it was targeted.

The picture is for pumping station No. 8, located outside the city of Dawadmi, about 330 km west of Riyadh, noting that the black flags that appeared near the pipes – in the picture taken on Tuesday – were not present in the images taken on Last Monday for the same place.

Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih said on Tuesday that the attack resulted in “a fire at station No. 8, which was under control after it caused limited damage.”

The two stations, which were attacked, are located in the provinces of Dawadmi and Afif in Riyadh, and the attack took place between 6 and 6.30 am local time, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.

The pipeline is about 1,200 km long and passes through at least five million barrels of oil per day from the eastern region rich in ore to the western region on the Red Sea coast.
