Iran holds Britain responsible for war crimes in Yemen

SANAA, March 28 (YPA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said on Wednesday that Britain bears direct responsibility for war crimes committed in Yemen.

This came in Ghasemi’s response to the accusations included in the joint statement of British Foreign Secretary and Minister for International Development, which claimed that Iran had sent arms to Yemen.

“Britain has direct involvement and responsibility in the war crimes committed three years ago in Yemen and in the brutal blockade through arms deals and providing logistical support and information to the countries that attack Yemen,” Ghasemi said.

It is quite clear to the world public opinion that war crimes committed in Yemen are committed with weapons of British and American origin, he added.

He called on Britain to exert efforts to find a political mechanism to resolve the crisis in Yemen and work to stop arms sales to Saudi-led alliance in order to end this brutal war and lift the siege imposed on the Yemeni people.

Ghasemi referred to the initiative presented by his country to end the crisis in Yemen, which confirmed that the political solution is the only solution to this crisis.
