Water Minister meets Humanitarian Affairs Coordinator

SANAA, Feb. 6 (YPA) – Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Nabil Abdullah Al-Wazir discussed on Tuesday with the United Nations Resident Representative Humanitarian Coordinator Lise Grande a number of topics related to the existing cooperation between the Ministry and the United Nations in the field of water and sanitation.
During the meeting, the officials reviewed the efforts exerted by the Ministry in the field of water system development and sanitation and what was accomplished during 2018 in coordination and partnership with the United Nations organizations.
The meeting also reviewed the most important projects completed during the last period as well as the plans and programs of the Ministry for the current year 2019 and the prominent role of the United Nations in continuing to support the efforts and activities of the Ministry in the implementation of water and sanitation projects.
Al-wazir praised the role of the United Nations in aspects related to international humanitarian activities, stressing the necessity of doubling the necessary funding to enable the ministry providing its services to citizens through the implementation of sustainable projects and expansion of the services map in urban and rural areas.
Al-Wazir also praised the efforts of Grande and her stand alongside Yemen’s water projects.
For her part, Grande stressed the importance of continuing to provide all aspects of support and enable the Ministry to carry out its activities to the fullest extent, praising the efforts exerted by the Ministry and the success it has achieved in combating the cholera epidemic.
