35,000 people suffer from cancer disease in Yemen: WHO

SANAA, Feb. 5 (YPA) – The World Health Organization (WHO) said in a statement on Monday that 35,000 people, including over 1,000 children, are suffering from the cancer disease in Yemen.

The WHO warned of cancer has become a death sentence towards the Yemeni citizens.

Altaf Musani, WHO Representative in Yemen, said that “non-communicable diseases account for 57% of all deaths in Yemen and cancer affects all age groups in the country, over 60% of whom are aged 30-69 years old.”

“This is the case for many Yemenis who cannot afford the cost of treatment, and who stay at home and wait for death to relieve their pain,” it said.
