UN to hold int’l conference on Yemen at end of February

SANAA, Feb. 3 (YPA) – The United Nations humanitarian coordinator for Yemen Lise Grande on Sunday announced that the organization intends to hold an intentional conference on the Yemeni crisis at the end of February.

“The international conference will be held in Geneva in the presence of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and with participation of all countries of the world,” Grande told reporters following the declaration of the humanitarian work plan in Yemen for 2019.

She indicated that the United Nations would ask the international community to pay four billion dollars for funding humanitarian relief efforts in Yemen.

“The United Nations has never asked for such a sum before to fund humanitarian needs anywhere in the world,” the humanitarian coordinator added.
