UAE-backed militias arrest two workers in Yemen’s Aden

ADEN, Jan. 3(YPA) – A group of militants loyal to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) occupation forces arrested two workers from Aden refinery and taken them to an unknown destination, local sources in Yemen’s Aden told Yemen Press Agency.

According to local sources, the Aden refinery administration ordered the security forces of the refinery to arrest two workers, Hussam Ezz al-Din al-Bana, because of his post on the social media, and Mansour Abdel Wahab because of the lifting of the yellow Strike badge, and they were taken to an unknown place for investigation.

In a statement, the workers at the Aden refineries called on humanitarian, human rights organizations and public opinion to stand by the workers in the refineries who are being subjected to violations and threats as a result of their demanding of their legitimate rights.

The detention of “al-Bana and Mansour” is a violation and an abuse of all workers and that these actions hasten the demise of the corrupt people and uproot them from their roots through labour escalation in the coming days, the statement added.

Aden refineries administration has become fertile ground for corruption, in which millions of dollars were looted at the expense of the workers’ rights.

Aden refinery workers union carried out several vigils and partial strikes demanding the reoperation of the refinery since it has been under the UAE occupation.
