Saudi-led coalition representatives turn against Swedish agreement

SANAA, Jan. 3 (YPA) -UN Monitoring Team Chairman Patrick Cammert has expressed his astonishment at the retreat of Saudi-led coalition representatives on the agreements reached on Wednesday.

A familiar source with the issue confirmed that the representatives of the national negotiating delegation and representatives of the coalition reached a joint executive mechanism to implement the agreement on Wednesday morning.

The Chairman of the UN Monitoring Group, Patrick, expressed his satisfaction and blessing on this agreement, after which the representatives of the Riyadh delegation asked for some time to consulate their senior leadership on the agreed joint mechanism.

The source added: “After the Coalition representatives continued with their leadership during the break, they returned to the meeting hall by changing their positions and overturning on what had been agreed upon.”

The source pointed out that the change in the position of the representatives of Riyadh delegation and their retreat caused frustration and disappointment to the UN advancing team headed by Cammert.

According to the source, Patrick Cammert was surprised that the Saudi delegation had apparently changed its mind after one short break.

It has been reported that the Sana’a negotiation team at the Coordination Committee has proposed that a Red Sea Mill Road be opened through Al-Gharasi roundabout passing through the large roundabout to Durihami and to the coastline, as well as suggesting the opening of a corridor of Red Sea mills towards Sana’a.

The source said that the Sana’a team confirmed that there are very large quantities of wheat in the Red Sea Mills stores that may otherwise spoil before being distributed to the people who need it most, many of whom are starving. However, the Saudi delegation has completely refused to respond to the suggestion.

Patrick Cammert has stated that despite his disappointment at the retreat of the Saudi-led coalition representatives, he would continue his tireless efforts to implement the peace agreement in the coming days.
