Sanaa Airport Director: Coalition keeps airport closed deliberately

SANAA, Dec. 27 (YPA) – Director of Sanaa International Airport, Khaled al-Shaef, on Thursday said that Saudi-led coalition deliberately keeps the airport closed without any justification in order to punish the Yemeni people and double their suffering.

Al-Shaef confirmed that the airport poses no threat to any of the parties to the conflict, adding that “the airport issue has become humanitarian today.”

He pointed out that the United Nations is not serious about opening the airport.

“There is a strange international silence towards the humanitarian tragedy caused by the closure of Sanaa airport, which is the only port in the areas under the control of the Salvation Government and millions of Yemenis benefit from it,” said al-Shaef.

Al-Shaef called on the international community will play its moral and humanitarian role in pressuring the coalition to open Sanaa airport.
