Army spokesman reveals latest developments of truce in Hodeidah

SANAA, Dec. 16 (YPA) – Spokesman of the Yemeni army on Sunday said that Saudi-led coalition did not abide by the truce that has been announced in the province of Hodeida after the conclusion of the Yemeni consultations recently held in Sweden.

At a press conference held in Sanaa, Brigadier General Yahya Sarea said the coalition’s warplanes waged 236 airstrikes during and after the consultations on several provinces, mostly in Sanaa, Saada and Hodeidah provinces, which killed 23 people and wounded 40, including women and children.

The air raids also destroyed 62 houses, 507 various facilities, and 65 commercial shops, as well as bombing eight mosques and a school and targeting of 46 farms, including 23 farms in Hodeidah, and killing of 17 livestock.

“These figures and statements confirm that the aggression countries have no will to bring peace,” Sarea said.

On Friday, the first day after the consultations, the coalition aircrafts waged 21 air raids, including 10 on the areas of al-Faza, al-Tuhita al-Durihemi and Hodeidah city.

On Saturday, the coalition fighter jets launched 38 air raids, including 12 on the city of Hodeidah and Kilo 16 area, while others hit al-Salif and Bait al-Faqih districts, killing five citizens, in a clear violation of the truce agreement.

The coalition’s aircrafts dropped cluster bombs at citizens’ farms in Bait al-Faqih, while the coalition-backed militias’ artillery shelled indiscriminately the city’s neighborhoods, he added.

“We have already confirmed the Yemeni armed forces’ keenness to create the appropriate atmosphere for calm, but the aggression continued in launching the air raids and bombing,” said Sarea, adding that that “the army forces will not hesitate to respond to any attacks.”

In the press conference, Sarea reviewed attacks of the coalition and its militias on several fronts since the first day of the consultations in Sweden.
