Mahra tribes prevent Saudi-backed militias’ entry into Balhaf area

MAHRA, Nov. 27 (YPA) – Tribesmen of Mahra province, eastern Yemen, on Tuesday interrupted Saudi-backed militias tried to break into Balhaf areas in east of the city of Ghaidha.

Local sources said that “citizens of Balhaf intercepted the way of the heavily armed militias heading towards al-Faidami area in Balha.”

Residents of al-Faidami complained of harassment in grazing and fishing places as a result of the presence of militias camp in the area, according to the sources.

Over several months, Saudi forces have been setting up a number of camps in the areas and districts of the province, without any legitimate or legal cover, while their militias attack and harass citizens under the pretext of combating smuggling that has not been proven in the province.

Saudi Arabia is seeking to build an oil pipeline extending from its territory to Nashton port of Mahra on the Arabian Sea.
