Israel claims that it is concerned Jerusalem may be declared joint capital

SANAA, Oct. 22 (YPA) – The Israeli government is concerned about the publication of President Trump’s plan, known as the “Deal of the Century”, in anticipation of the plan will declare the occupied Jerusalem as  a joint capital of the Palestinian and Israeli sides, Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported.

The newspaper said that the government of the Zionist enemy can not accept such a declaration, because of the political structure and repeated declarations of Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, that “unified Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel,” according to the newspaper.

Analysts and journalists in Israel have already pointed out that if the Trump plan included such a declaration, Netanyahu would face a problem in accusing the Trump administration of an anti-Israel stance after repeatedly praising him for transferring the embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The prospects of declaring the plan for Jerusalem as a joint capital come under the official Palestinian boycott, specifically Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, and may be part of the administration’s attempts to soften Abu Mazen’s position and restore the Palestinian Authority to negotiations with Israel and try to enlist Arab support for the Trump plan, according to the Yedioth Ahronoth report citing political sources.

Occupied Jerusalem will remain an Arab and eternal capital of the Palestinian state, away from the deal of the century.
