Egypt threatens to stop Palestinian reconciliation: Israel Daily Newspaper

SANAA, Oct.  7 (YPA) – The Egyptian authorities threatened to stop its intervention as a mediator in the Palestinian reconciliation files and to stabilize the truce with the Israeli Occupation, the Hebrew newspaper reported on Sunday.

“In the  light of the growing tension on the Gaza border, Egyptian intelligence officials, mediating in the efforts  of the internal Palestinian reconciliation agreement between Fatah and Hamas, would reconsider ending Egypt’s participation in the talks,” The Israel Daily said in its report.

“Egypt has informed the Hamas delegation, headed by Saleh Aarouri (deputy head of the Hamas political bureau), and the delegation of Fatah during their meetings with senior Egyptian intelligence officials, last week, that Egypt decided to reconsider its ongoing participation in the Gaza issue and reconciliation efforts.

“In light of that, the delegates, who were supposed to remain in Cairo for a few days, left the Egyptian capital after only 24 hours,” according to the newspaper.
