Federal and legislative elections kicks off in Bosnia

SANAA, Oct. 7 (YPA) – Federal and legislative elections kicked off in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday Morning, to elect members of the Country’s Parliament and local and federal councils.

Voters began to arrive at the ballot boxes from 7 am local time and ending at 7 pm.

The electoral process is attended by 3 million and 352,000 registered voters in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, comprising two entities, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Bosnian Serb Republic.

Voters choose 518 candidates out of 7,000 and 498, to fill seats in the country’s parliament, local councils and federalism.

Voters will also choose 3 candidates for membership of the Bosnian Presidency Council out of 15 competitors, including 6 Bosniaks, 5 Croats and 4 Serbs.

According to the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 58 political parties, 36 coalitions and 34 independent candidates are participating in the elections.

The elections are followed by 6,500 local and foreign observers
