China denounces US provocations in South China Sea

SANAA, Oct. 2 (YPA) – China has called on the United States to stop its provocative acts that violate its sovereignty and pose a threat to its security, against the backdrop of the US destroyer’s entry to the Chinese waters in the South China Sea.

“The U.S. is repeatedly sending unauthorized military ships to sail near to South China Sea Islands which is posing a serious threat to the sovereignty and security of China, as well as undermines the Sino-US military relations and seriously harms peace and stability in the region,” Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said.

He added that “Washington is not paying any attention to the common aspirations of the countries of the region, and once again resorts to provocative actions under the pretext of freedom of navigation, which is violates international standards and threatens China’s sovereignty.”

The Chinese Defense Ministry has sent a ship to warn the US ship to leave the area, he said, stressing that Beijing “will take all necessary measures to defend national sovereignty and security.”
