Health Minister meets officials of Spanish, French MSF

SANAA, Sep. 25 (YPA) – Minister of Public Health and Population, Taha Al-Mutawakil, met on Tuesday with the Spanish and  French representatives of Médecins sans Frontières.

In the meeting with Spanish representatives of Médecins sans Frontières, Caroline de Karem, the officials discussed the requirements to upgrade and expand Abes hospital of Hajja province from a rural hospital to a public hospital.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of supporting the Republican Hospital under a pretext, especially regarding the maintenance of the main organs and the expansion of health services, as well as the Republican Hospital in Sa’ada.

The meeting stressed on the importance of enhancing aspects of cooperation and developing mechanisms of joint work between the Ministry and the Organization in the humanitarian field, in order to contribute to overcoming the challenges facing the health sector and help in reducing the suffering of patients as a result of aggression and siege.
Theminister stressed the readiness of the ministry to overcome the difficulties facing the organization to carry out its humanitarian and health functions to the fullest.

For his part, Karem addressed the work carried out by the organization in Abes Hospital, which aims to expand and raise the level of health services and absorptive capacity.

On a related level, Al-Mutawakil  reviewed wirh the representative of Médecins Sans Frontières in Yemen, Wafaa El Sayed, the activities of the organization in the provision of medical services, and the challenges facing the ministry in the development of the Yarim hospital.

In the meeting, the Minister of Health stressed the importance of strengthening the partnership between the ministry and the organization, especially in light of the conditions that the country is going through,  pointing to the destruction of the health sector and its infrastructure as a result of targeting by the coalition of aggression.
