Tropical Florence Storm leaves 13 dead, floods threaten eastern US

NORTH CAROLINA, Sept. 16 (YPA) – The tropical storm Florence, which has killed at least 13 people on the US Atlantic coast, has turned into a tropical depression, but authorities warn that the consequences it left, especially large floods, have not ended.

US media reported that 13 people were killed, including 10 in North Carolina and three in South Carolina. Among them was a 61-year-old woman who was killed when her car collided with a tree trunk on a road.

Wind and heavy rain caused severe damage. A large number of roads are still cut by tree trunks and electricity poles and even sudden flooding.

Around Hampstead on the coast of North Carolina, evacuees are trying to return home despite flooding on the roads.
