Britain, US conduct maneuvers in Gulf waters

SANAA, Sep. 12 (YPA) – The United States and Britain have carried out extensive joint military training to dismantle mines in the waters of the Gulf region near the maritime border with the Kingdom of Bahrain.

According to the site “Russia Today” on the implementation of training on Monday, said that not only the operations of anti-mines, but also the participation of a group of helicopters for the patrols in the region and the monitoring of targets in the depth of the sea.

The helicopters are the largest among military aircraft that can carry sonar on board to detect underwater mines.
“Mine mines pose a very serious threat to trade and freedom of navigation at sea,” said the commander of the 15th Squadron of the Anti-Mines Combatant, Marine Commander Andrio Countis, pointing out that”Specifying any kind is difficult because of its underwater presence.

The waters of the Gulf are home to one of the world’s busiest sea routes, running through the Strait of Hormuz with 18 million barrels of oil per day, 35 percent of the volume of offshore oil exports.
