Al-Abadi arrives to Basra a week after protestations

SANAA, Sep. 10 (YPA) – Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi arrived on Monday to Basra province, in the south of Iraq, a week after protests on the economic conditions.

The city witnessed violations and firing in several of government’s building and the Iranian Consulate in the city, rich in petrol.

The city recovered calmness again on Saturday.

Thousands of citizens of Basra since July have protesting against corruption and absence of public services and unemployment which aggravated during this current year.

The situation escalated tensely since Tuesday after health crisis erupted in Basra.

On Saturday the Iraqi parliament held an exceptional session to discussing the crisis.
