ICRC expresses concern about continued targeting of civilians in Yemen

SANAA, Aug 12 (YPA) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Sunday has expressed concern about the continued targeting of civilians in Yemen.

In a statement, the committee said, “We feel the pain of what Yemen witnessed in less than a week of total disregard for the protection of civilians and their lives.”

The statement said, the figures were received from local authorities indicate that 130 people, mostly children, were victims of the Saada attack on Thursday morning.

The head of the ICRC delegation in Yemen, Johannes Breuer, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, adding children should not pay the price of a conflict which they have no income in.

The statement also added that Talah Hospital, which is supported by the committee, witnessed an unexpected arrival of injuries on Thursday, where 29 bodies were received for children under the age of 15 and 48 wounded, including 30 children.
