Israel evacuates Hundreds of ‘White Helmets’ to Jordan

SANAA, July 22 (YPA) – Over 800 members of the White Helmets group and their families were evacuated via Israel to Jordan overnight on Sunday from southwest of Syria, Reuters news agency reported.

In a statement, the Israeli occupation army said that it had completed what it described as a “humanitarian operation to rescue members of a Syrian civilian organization and their families, due to a direct threat to their lives.”

The stamen indicated that the people were transferred to a neighboring country and the evacuation came at the request of the United States and several European countries.

The official Jordanian news agency (Patra) said on its website that the kingdom “authorized the United Nations to organize the passage of about 800 Syrian’s White Helmets group through Jordan for resettlement in Western countries”.
