The closure of Hodeidah port would be catastrophic: Deputy of Health Ministry says

HODEIDAH, June 17 (YPA) – Deputy of Health Ministry, Dr. Abdul Aziz al-Dilami warned that the closure of the port of Hodeidah port would be catastrophic and will leave disastrous consequences.

In a press conference held on Saturday in Hodeidah province, he called on international organizations to intervene to stop the closure of the port in order to save the lives of millions of Yemenis from starvation and disease, after the targeting the operations room of Health Bureau in  Al-Thawra hospital in the province.

“The closure of the port threatens lives of more than 6,000 people with kidney failure,  660 thousand people suffering from chronic diseases as diabetic, pressure and psychological conditions, more than 10,000 people with cancer, and more than one million and a half children are malnourished,” he added.

He said that the ministry’s stores are empty of medicines, medical supplies, and solutions, which represents a humanitarian disaster for citizens, especially those suffering from chronic diseases.

He called on all international organizations to intervene urgently to save the lives of the victims of the bombing and alleviate the suffering of patients.
