8 Afghan soldiers killed in Taliban attack on checkpoint

SANAA, Jul. 29 (YPA) – At least Eight Afghan soldiers were killed and three were injured in a Taliban attack on a security checkpoint in Nangarhar province Wednesday night.

“The Taliban launched an attack last night on a security checkpoint in  east of Nangarhar province, killing eight soldiers and injuring three others,” a security source told media.

Violence and fighting in Afghanistan have escalated as negotiations between the parties to the conflict stalled, reaching a lasting ceasefire agreement and discussing the country’s political future.

The Taliban confirmed the continued attack on security forces in most parts of the country, declaring that its fighters are taking control over  most of the international border line.

However, the parties later agreed to spare civilians and infrastructure violence, as well as to speed up negotiations.
