UAE imposes strict restrictions on Mayun island’s residents

SANAA, Jun. 15 (YPA) – The UAE has escalated the means to restrict the residents of the Yemeni island of Mayon, located in the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

According to local sources, the Emirati forces prevented the island’s residents from fetching drinking water from Mocha port and fishing at sea, which is their only source of livelihood.

The sources pointed out the arbitrary measures practiced by the Emirati occupation came after its failure to persuade the local population to leave the Island in exchange for great financial inducements.

Abu Dhabi offered one million Saudi riyals to every citizen residing the island and wants to leave and never return, which was rejected by the sons of the island.
