India arrests 20 people in Kashmir for solidarity with Palestine

NEW DELHI, May 16 (YPA) – India has arrested at least 20 people in its part of the disputed territory of Kashmir for their participation in a protest in solidarity with Palestine.

Vijay Kumar, chief of police in the Jammu and Kashmir region, confirmed on Saturday evening, in a statement, the arrest of at least 20 people who participated in a pro-Palestine demonstration.

On Friday, Kashmiris took part in a demonstration in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, to express their solidarity with the Palestinians.

A video clip spread on social media platforms showed graffiti painted on a wall of a Palestinian woman with the phrase “We are Palestine.”

Local sources said that the police arrested the artist, “Muddathir Gul,” a resident of the capital, Srinagar, for painting graffiti on a bridge.
