Dozens of coalition troops killed, wounded in Jawf desert battles

JAWF, April 01 (YPA) – At least 30 of Saudi-led coalition forces were killed, including leaders, and dozens wounded on Thursday during fierce battles with Sanaa forces on the desert fronts in Jawf province.

Among the coalition’s deaths was Nashtan bin Ali Al-Shayef, commander of the military attack towards “Al-Khanjar” area, while Brigadier General Haykal Hanaf, commander of the “Northern Axis” of the coalition forces, was wounded, in addition to several commanders, who were transferred for treatment in Najran hospitals.

The raging confrontations between the Yemeni army forces backed by the popular committees (Sanaa forces) and the coalition forces backed by heavy airstrikes continue in the Al-Yatama desert, amid accelerating collapses and heavy losses among the coalition forces.

Local sources in Jawf province reported that Sanaa forces advanced overnight (Wednesday – Thursday) from their positions in “Al-Raqib Al-Abyadh” area towards the coalition forces’ camp in “Al-Qaffal” area in the northeast of Al-Yatama desert in Khab Washa`f district.
