Leading sheikh in Mahra exposes “Saudi initiative” calling for peace

MAHRA, March 24 (YPA) – Head of the peaceful sit-in committee in Shehn district of Mahra province, Sheikh Hameed Zaabnoot, on Wednesday called on Saudi Arabia and the international community to reopen Al-Ghaydah and Socotra airports and all civilian airports in Yemen.

In a tweet on Twitter, Sheikh Zaabnoot addressed the Saudi regime, which claims neutrality in the so-called “peace initiative”, calling on it to withdraw its forces and military vehicles from Mahra, Socotra, and all Yemeni lands.

Zaabnoot called on Saudi Arabia to reopen Al-Ghaydah airport, which its forces use as a military barracks, and to remove all Saudi forces from the borderland crossings in Shehn and Sarfait in Mahra.

He pointed out that Saudi Arabia is using its tools and militias to pass its agendas and plans in the eastern Yemeni provinces and ports.

In November 2017, Saudi Arabia closed Al-Ghaydah airport after its forces arrived at Nashton port of Mahra, and turned it into a joint military base with the US and British forces on the Arabian Sea coast.
