Yemeni riyal drops dramatically in southern provinces

SANAA, March 16 (YPA) – The Yemeni riyal exchange rate witnessed on Tuesday accelerating collapse against foreign currencies in the southern provinces, reaching 913 riyals per dollar in the provinces of Aden and Hadramout.

This came hours after angry demonstrators stormed the presidential Maa’sheeq Palace, headquarters of Hadi’s government in Aden, in protest of the currency collapse, the rise in prices, and the deterioration of basic services.

Meanwhile, the exchange rate of the Yemeni riyal remained stable in the capital Sanaa at 605 riyals per dollar.
