Yemeni forces advance towards Marib’s eastern outlet

MARIB, Feb. 20 (YPA) – Yemeni army forces, backed by  popular committees on Friday advanced towards the eastern outlet that links Marib province, Hadhramaut province and the border crossing with Saudi Arabia, local sources said

According to the local sources, the army forces fought fierce battles against coalition forces in the past hours, during which they managed to advance from the north towards the east of Marib city.

The sources explained that the army forces managed to impose a siege on the old village of Raghwan , and advance towards the fronts of Al-Alam Alabyad and al-Nadhoud, northeast of the city.

Moreover, the sources affirmed that the army forces were able to clear several positions that were controlled by coalition forces in “Nadhoud”, as well as to impose a suffocating siege on armed groups affiliated with the coalition and al-Qaeda elements in “Tabea al-Aryalat” front al-Alam.

The sources confirmed that the al-Qaeda forces and elements suffered heavy losses on the same fronts.

Dozes of the Saudi-led mercenaries were killed and wounded. Among the dead, Brigadier General Mohammed Ali Abdo al-Hadithi, commander of Salafist recruits of al-Qaeda elements from the sons of Raymah province, and Brigadier Yahya Ahmed al-Hawari, the staff officer of the 62nd Brigade and Colonel Sadiq bin Saleh Abdul Rahman al-Tibas were wounded.
