Iranian ground maneuvers begin tomorrow on coast of Makran

TEHRAN, Jan. 19 (YPA) – The commander of the ground force of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s army, Brigadier General Kumrath Heydari, announced that “Al-Qatdar 99” maneuvers will be launched on the coast of Makran, southeast of the country, on Tuesday.

Brigadier General Heydari said in a statement on Monday, that the “Al-Qatdar 99” maneuvers will be conducted with the participation of the 55th Airborne Brigade, the 65th Special Forces Brigade and the 223rd Rapid Intervention Brigade, with the support of the transport and combat forces of the Air Force and the Army Aviation in the Makran coasts in southeastern Iran.

He considered the objectives and characteristics of these maneuvers to be distinctive and unique and added: After the major changes that took place in the structure of the army’s land force units, following the orders issued by the commander of the Islamic Revolution, these maneuvers will be held in an offensive and pivotal form for the first time at the ground force level.

He added that all the tactics that will be used in these maneuvers will be synthetic, local and creative, commensurate with the new structures of the Army Land Force.

He pointed out that the equipment and weapons that will be used in these exercises are often manufactured by experts of the land force and the defense industries in the country, adding that the most important goal of these exercises is to assess the movement and attack capabilities of the brigades and the rapid intervention and mobile offensive teams of the army’s land force.

The ground force commander added that setting records in speed and a quick and resolute response to threats is one of the expected goals in these maneuvers. Modern and innovative local tactics will also be implemented in order to enhance the penetration and massive attack capabilities of rapid intervention and mobile offensive units on the enemy’s coast.

He pointed to the participation of special and multi-purpose forces capable of carrying out various operations in various geographical areas, whether marine, land, mountainous or otherwise, adding that in these maneuvers special and multi-purpose forces will be used to carry out synthetic operations to reach the set goals.

Brigadier General Heydari explained that air mobile operations, penetration into the surface and below the surface, and moving towards the enemy’s sea targets, are among the other goals of these maneuvers.

The “Al-Qatdar 99” maneuvers are scheduled to take place in the presence and supervision of the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army, Major General Abdul Rahim Mousavi, as well as under the supervision of commanders and officials of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Army Staff.
