Over 8,888 coalition airstrikes hit Yemen in 2020: Army Spokesman

SANAA, Jan. 4 (YPA) – The Saudi-led coalition warplanes carried out over 8,888 airstrikes on 13 Yemeni provinces during the past year of 2020, according to the Yemeni army spokesman.

The spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Sarei, announced, in a news statement on Monday about statistics of coalition’s airstrikes in 2020, the coalition fighter jet hit Marib province more than 3,621 air raids and Jawf with 1981 other strikes, as well as to over 726 strikes on Saada.

Sarei affirmed that coalition fighter jets also distributed 611 airstrikes on Bayda, 496 raids on Hajjah, 459 strikes on Sanaa, 324 on the borders fronts, 122 raids on Amran, in addition to the warplanes hit the capital Sanaa with 62 raids, Hodeida with 46 strikes, Dhalea with 24 raids, and two strikes on both provinces of Taiz, Abyan and Shabwa.

The spokesman pointed out that the coalition attacks and its strikes included the ongoing violations in Hodeida province, which has recently seen a new crime committed by the enemy.

He pointed out that the coalition’s air attacks in 2020 led to the death and injury of hundreds of Yemeni people in various areas, in addition to property damages.

Brigadier General Sarei stated that the continuing crimes by the coalition against the Yemeni people is one of the main reasons that pushed the armed forces to carry out specific strikes in the depth of the enemy, as well as targeting their tools at home.
